I started Handled after 15+ years in the places where design actually gets produced under pressure — including Ogilvy, M&C Saatchi, various in-house teams, and a long run inside one of New Zealand's largest property brands.
What I noticed, again and again, was that the businesses struggling with their output weren't the ones who didn't care. They were the ones who cared a lot, were growing fast, and had simply outgrown the way their design was being handled. The work was good. There was just no one owning whether it still held together.
I'm a production designer by instinct. I like the parts most people find unglamorous. The templates, the systems, the work that has to look right every single time without anyone thinking about it. The best version of what I do is invisible. You stop noticing your design, because it's finally just handled.
